Understanding Your Insurance Plan

BMS Access Support® can conduct a Benefits Review. This will typically help determine what is covered by your insurance plan, whether there are any restrictions, and how much money you may have to pay to get your medication (out-of-pocket expenses). A Benefits Review will identify whether you need a Prior Authorization.

Understanding Insurance Procedures

BMS Access Support can help with Prior Authorizations and Claims Appeals.

  • Prior Authorizations
A Prior Authorization (PA) is a verification from your doctor that states that your medication is medically necessary. Your insurance company may require a PA before they will cover certain medications. BMS Access Support can provide information about this requirement. A PA is not necessary in all cases.
  • Claims Appeals
Almost all health insurers have a special process to appeal a coverage decision. BMS Access Support can provide information about this process. In this case, you and/or your doctor would prepare paperwork to support the appeal.
